Fourteen Brewer High School Seniors Earn Seal of Biliteracy Award

White Settlement ISD recently recognized 14 Brewer High School seniors with the Seal of Biliteracy Award. The award recognizes students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. The seal appears on the high school transcript or diploma of the graduating senior and is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and college admission.

Students who earned the award were: Karla Aguilar, Francisco Arroyo, Jorge Dominguez, Jackeline Duran, Katherine Meneses, Astrid Parada, Nancy Rocha Amaro, Christina Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, Merari Rodriguez Tovar, Damaris Sifuentes and Claudia Victoria. Not pictured are Jazmin Soria Pena and Anthony Munoz.

Students who receive the award must: pass the Texas state assessment in English Language Arts (EOC English 1 and 2) at a proficient level or above; pass a foreign language Advanced Placement (AP) test with a score of 3 or higher; and if the primary language of the student is other than English, they must attain the advanced high proficiency level on the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS).
