Bond 2022
Background
To prepare for future enrollment growth in White Settlement ISD, WSISD established a Long Range Facilities Planning Committee comprised of 50-plus parents, students, grandparents, current and former educators, business owners, civic leaders, alumni, and taxpayers in the spring of 2021.
Over a three-month period, members toured WSISD schools and facilities and studied demographic reports, enrollment projections, district finances, tax impact scenarios, and facility and needs assessments of every school and facility.
With the help of a neutral facilitator, committee members worked together to develop a comprehensive $115 million bond package. The Long Range Facilities Planning Committee presented its recommendation to the WSISD Board of Trustees during a Special Meeting on May 27, 2021. The WSISD Board of Trustees voted on Jan. 24, 2022 to call a $115 million Bond Election for May 7, 2022.
WSISD voters approved a $115 million bond package in May 2022.

Bond Updates
Brewer Middle Updates
As part of the 2022 bond, a 3-story Sixth Grade Center with 29 classrooms will be added at the BMS site. The project also includes a new competition gym and a cafeteria addition and renovation that will serve as an auditorium and seat 2,000 students. The projects will be completed in the summer of 2025.
Liberty Elementary Updates
As part of the 2022 bond program, Liberty Elementary received five new classrooms this fall, and three rooms were renovated to provide improved technology and science labs. The district saved $3 million by renovating the former “blue room,” an open area at the school.
Gym Renovations
Brewer High School has an expanded competition gym that now accommodates 2,000 people, and both the drill team and original gyms received new floors to enhance safety.
Brewer Band Hall
The Brewer High School Fightin’ Bear Band kicked off the marching season with the opening of the new band hall. The new Band Hall, part of the 2022 bond, provides our growing band program with a much larger and enhanced facility.
Brewer High School Gym
BTC recognized WSISD during the Homecoming Community Rally and first community-wide event in the new Brewer High School gym.
As part of the 2022 bond program, the gym renovation increased seating from 1,200 to 2,000.

Grade Level Instructional Realignment
As part of the bond, WSISD will undergo a grade level instructional realignment that will effect the elementary, intermediate and middle school campuses. The changes would increase capacity at ALL elementary schools and begin in 3 to 5 years.
The grade level realignment will strengthen the kindergarten through fifth grade curriculum alignment in all subjects and create a stronger foundation for students as they transition to the middle school starting in sixth grade. The alignment would allow elementary age students to only transition to a new school one time. Currently, students change schools from elementary to intermediate and from intermediate to middle school. This would result in one transition—from elementary to the Sixth Grade Center.

Elementary
- West Elementary will become the Early Learners Academy In August 2024. The campus will become a focused school designed to enhance the early literacy and math skills of our youngest learners. All of the district's pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will attend the Early Learners Academy.
- Blue Haze, Liberty and North Elementaries will serve students in grades 1 through 5 beginning in August 2024.
Fine Arts Academy
- The Fine Arts Academy will become a 1st through 6th grade campus for the 2024-25 school year only. In August 2025, the school will move to the current Tannahill Intermediate site, enabling the school to provide additional facilities geared to the fine arts, serve additional students and become a neighborhood school.
Sixth Grade Center
- The bond includes the creation of a 6th Grade Center that will provide more flexibility in scheduling that results in additional support for student growth academically and socially. The Sixth Grade Center will be completed in the spring of 2025.
- The 6th Grade Center will now serve as the bridge from elementary to middle school and better prepare 6th graders for athletics, fine arts and CTE programs.
- Shared staffing at the middle school level will result in additional Fine Arts, Pre-Athletic and Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities in sixth grade.
- This increased exposure at a younger age will enable sixth graders to explore their interests and learn how to balance the rigor of academics and extracurricular opportunities.
- More targeted instruction in fine arts, athletics and CTE will better prepare students to compete and excel at the middle school and high school levels.
