The WSISD Board of Trustees recognized Brewer High School freshman Josue Rodriguez who recently earned the highest honor a high school musician can achieve ... he is the first student since 2008 to be selected to the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band.

More than 70,000 high school musicians (band, choir and orchestra) from across the state participated in auditions at the regional, area and state level as part of the All-State audition process each year. Only 2 percent of the auditioned students make a performing group for All-State.

As an All-State band member, Rodriguez attended the TMEA Convention in San Antonio (pictured), where he rehearsed with world-renowned conductors, attended workshops and concerts, and performed with the Texas All State Band.

He is pictured with Superintendent Frank Molinar, Fine Arts Director Andrew Williams, Associate Band Director Stephanie Ballaro and Brewer Middle School Band Director Ethan Streeter.
