The WSISD School Board and Superintendent Frank Molinar recognized four Brewer High School Brewer FFA students who earned the Lonestar Degree, the highest degree of membership the State FFA Association awards, at the Texas FFA Convention. Recipients are: Madison Callan, McKinley Foster, Cruz Gonzalez and Alicia Oliver.

FFA members may apply for the Lone Star Degree after earning the Chapter Degree. They must be active members for at least two years, complete at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintain a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, invest significant time and money in their SAE, demonstrate their leadership skills, and show a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter level and above.
