Liberty, North and BHS to begin year with new leadership
Three of our schools will begin the year with new principals!
The WSISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment of three new principals during the June 25 board meeting. Jennifer Byrd, will return to the North STEAM Academy as the new principal. Byrd began her 19-year career in education at North, teaching ESL and first grade for seven years combined. She was assistant principal at North for five years and two at the Fine Arts Academy before she took some time off to stay home with her children.
She returned to education as an interventionist in Weatherford ISD and was an Assistant Principal and Principal in Peaster ISD before returning to WSISD in December as the Academic Advisor at Brewer High School.
She has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Brewer High School Principal
Tommy Neal will serve as the new principal of Brewer High School. During his 20-year career in education, he served as principal at Maypearl High School and at Frazier Elementary in Burleson ISD. He was also an Assistant Principal at Burleson High and Grapevine Middle and was a teacher and coach for 14 years.
Neal has a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of North Texas.
Liberty Elementary Principal
Brewer High School Associate Principal Alex Croft will serve as principal of Liberty Elementary. Associate Principal at BHS the past three years, Croft was an Assistant Principal in Mansfield and Crowley ISDs four years prior to coming to WSISD. He began his career in education as a high school teacher and coach.
He has a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University and Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
