The WSISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to appoint Randy Armstrong and Michael Brannon to the vacant school board positions held by Glen Lowry and Raymond Patterson, who passed away this summer. Armstrong and Brannon were sworn in during the Sept. 21 meeting.

The board received 17 applications, and every applicant had the opportunity to interview with the entire board.

“We were truly encouraged by the number of community members who expressed an interest in serving our district and investing their time and talents in our schools,” said Board President Amanda Sanchez. “We had so many amazing candidates, making it an incredibly difficult decision.”

Armstrong served two terms on the WSISD Board of Trustees for a combined 17 years. He and his wife, Sherrie, both Brewer High School alumni, have two grown children, also BHS graduates. A member of the EECU Board of Directors, Armstrong retired from the Tarrant Appraisal District after a 42-year career.

Brannon follows in his father Willie Brannon’s footsteps, who served on the board in the ’80s. He and his wife, Cami, have three children, two who currently attend BHS and one who graduated.

Active with the BHS Football, Softball, and Baseball Boosters, Brannon volunteered with the Watch DOGS program and White Settlement Little League Baseball. A 20-year Air Force Civil Engineer Officer, Brannon is a Professional Engineer currently leading as a Program Manager for large civil infrastructure programs across Texas.
