School board appoints new Chief Financial Officer

The WSISD Board of Trustees appointed Brandilyn DePalma as the district’s new Chief Financial Officer on Jan. 9. Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations David Bitters will retire in June after 32 years of service in WSISD.

Education Service Center Region 11 Chief Financial Officer for the past five years, DePalma also served as the Region 11 Director of Business and Finance Team Lead and Purchasing during her 13-year tenure at the ESC.

She began her career in education in Mansfield ISD, where her roles included Purchasing Administrative Assistant, Accounts Payable Coordinator, Facilities and Operations Coordinator, and Buyer over a 13-year period. DePalma has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.  

The WSISD Chief Financial Officer position will oversee the Business, Child Nutrition, and Federal Programs Departments. Assistant Human Resources Director Randy Summerhill is working hand-in-hand with Mr. Bitters to serve in an interim executive director role and oversee the Operations, Transportation and Custodial Services Departments. Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Heather Crow will now oversee the Technology Department.
