WSISD Pinwheel Garden creates awareness during Child Abuse Prevention Month
Desiree Coyle
To recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, WSISD partnered with Community Partners of Tarrant County, the City of White Settlement and the White Settlement Police Department to plant a pinwheel garden at the WSISD Administration Building. The 44 pinwheels represent the child deaths caused by abuse or neglect in our region; 15 of those children were in Tarrant County.
“The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention, symbolizing the playfulness, joy and childhood desired for all children,” said Lonora Burton, CPS Tarrant County Community Coordinator. “It depicts the positive cycles of love and support we want to help families create.”
