Gabi Seals’ Geometry class at Brewer High School and Jennifer Belisle’s Geometry in Construction class partnered up for the day in the wood shop to make a measuring lesson practical in real life.
After learning about measurement and rulers in the classroom, Seals brought her students to the wood shop to team up with GIC students and construct a diorama for their home design.
The GIC students supported the Geometry class students in measuring their 1x4 walls and using a Mitor Saw to cut the pieces to length. They also helped to mark a sheet of plywood in order for the construction students to cut it to size on a table saw. The students then constructed the walls and attached the floor using power drills with the assistance of the GIC students.
