Brewer High School juniors Landry Brannon and Austin Worley were among high schoolers throughout the nation recently selected to serve on the HOPE Squad National Council.
The council consists of high school juniors and seniors who will share ideas to support and improve Hope Squads.
White Settlement ISD was the first Texas school district to implement the HOPE Squad program district-wide. Fourth through 12th grade students are nominated by their peers to participate in the suicide prevention program.
They are trained to watch for at-risk students, provide friendship, identify warning signs, and seek help from adults. The goal is to reduce self-destructive behavior and youth suicide by training, building, and creating change in schools and communities.
