Brewer High School was the only high school team that competed in the Boeing/Wichita State University Aerospace Engineering Bronze Propeller Competition on May 8.
Senior Kobi Adair and sophomores Sydney Kaspar, Matthew Drake, Joshua Berks and Jay Patel competed against 27 college and pro-aerospace teams. BHS finished in 15th place.
The engineering students had to design and build a small, electric-powered aircraft to fly as many sensors as possible for at least 3-minutes.
“Brewer was the only team to try to carry more than 25 pennies,” their teacher Tommy Bowers said. “Everyone was shocked a high school team attempted a payload that far exceeded the payload tried by any other team.”
