Eleven of the 17 students participated in WSISD’s Two Way Immersion Dual Language Program, which began during their kindergarten year in WSISD.
Students who receive the award must: pass the Texas state assessment in English Language Arts (EOC English 1 and 2) at a proficient level or above; pass a foreign language Advanced Placement (AP) test with a score of 3 or higher; and if the primary language of the student is other than English, they must attain the advanced high proficiency level on the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS).
Nine of the 17 students also scored a 3 or higher on the AP Spanish Literature exam in addition to the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam.
