Blue Haze Elementary Destination Imagination Team Wins First Place at Regionals

Blue Haze Elementary is the first White Settlement ISD elementary school to participate in the Destination Imagination regional competition.

The Punishers team of Isaiah Morgan, Jaxson Westbrook, Ethan Maddy, Macie Munoz and Cooper Waldran won a first place medal in the Instant Challenge portion of the competition. Their coach is Darcee Maddy. Managers are Lindsey Vinson and Courtney Button.

Destination Imagination teaches STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) principles to kindergarten through university-level students through creative and collaborative problem-solving challenges.

Instant Challenge requires teams to engage in quick, creative and critical thinking. At a tournament, a team  receives an Instant Challenge and the materials to solve it. The team members must think on their feet by applying appropriate skills to produce a solution in a period of just five to eight minutes.

Three Blue Haze teams competed this year. The other teams competed in Structural (Engineering Challenge) in which they design, build and test load-bearing structures of specific materials as well as in the Improvisational Challenge in which teams receive topics and produce skits on the spot. They competed against teams throughout the Greater Fort Worth Region.
