Monday, Feb. 19 is a Staff Development Day! Students will not attend school! The Brewer Bear boys' basketball team will play Denton High for the Bi-District Playoff Championship at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. The game will be at Byron Nelson High School.

Rhodes Named MVP During First Season as Oregon Duck, Team Qualifies for Women's College World Series

Former Brewer Lady Bear softball player Shannon Rhodes earned Most Valuable Player for the Eugene Regional All Region Team during her first year at the University of Oregon. Shannon was also selected to the 1st Team - All PAC 12 Freshman Team.

She is the daughter of Dawn and Shannon Rhodes and is competing at the highest level of NCAA Division 1 college softball. Rhodes started in centerfield and hit in the five hole for the Ducks. 

During the regional games, she hit .778, had two base hits, 4 RBIs, and 9 total bases as well as some amazing defensive plays to help the Oregon Ducks work their way to the Women's College World Series.   

Oregon was one of eight teams to qualify for the Women’s College World Series, and the Ducks were ranked third in the nation during the softball season, at times claiming the #1 ranking in the country.
