Seventeen out of 26 Brewer High School students in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will advance to the state level after competing in the regional conference on Feb. 24.
Aaron Miller, Brooke Bailey and Michael Lozada won first place in Culinary Arts, and Jacque Reid, Matthew Pelton and Kaitlyn Shamburger took first in Focus on Children.
The following students won medals in Family Consumer Science Assessment: Hailey Campbell, Gold, and Jacob Arch, Silver in Etiquette; Trevor Bridgewater, Silver in Hospitality; and Harmony Watson, Bronze in Hospitality.
Juanita Ramos, Marie Ruiz and Noemi Sanchez earned fourth in Life Event Planning, and Christopher Ramsey took fourth in Applied Math. Taylor Ramirez won fourth in Serving up Success.
Frank Davis, McKenna Brown and Alysa Evans earned fifth in Culinary Arts, and Sarahi Castillo and Elyssa Mindieta earned sixth in Entrepreneurship.
Other competitors were: Marcel Paige, Bethany Miller, Seth Caldwell, Michael Valero, Bryanna Wright and Alison Mancera.
The state competition is April 5 through 7.
