Brewer High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Wade Griffin resigned on March 5, after accepting an Athletic Director/Head Football Coach position in Giddings ISD.
“This will be a great opportunity for my family and I … to be back home near our family and to be back in an area where we spent most of our careers,” said Coach Griffin.
Coach Griffin has served as Athletic Director in White Settlement ISD for the past four years. Under his leadership, the Bears advanced to the playoffs three consecutive years.
I love Brewer High School, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity that WSISD gave me,” he said. “I appreciate every kid who’s been a part of the program over the past four years. I am extremely proud of each of them.”
Griffin expressed gratitude to the WSISD administration for its support. He said, “We were able to turn it around and become a winning program.”
Superintendent Frank Molinar said, “We’re excited for Coach Griffin and his family. He brought a climate of winning to WSISD, and we are primed to do great things.”
WSISD will post the position on March 5.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to continue this momentum in our athletic program with all of our sports,” said Molinar. “We will hire an individual who will take our kids to the next level.”
In the interim, Assistant Athletic Director Vera Ortega will oversee the Athletic Department.
"Coach Carl Anderson will run the off-season football program, ensuring that our boys continue to work hard and are prepared for a winning 2018 football season," said Molinar.
The district plans to hire a new AD/Head Football Coach before the end of March.
White Settlement ISD encourages parents, staff and the community to provide feedback regarding characteristics, goals, etc. that they wish for the new Athletic Director/Head Football Coach to exemplify.
The hiring committee will utilize this input during the interview process to ensure that all Brewer athletes continue to excel in the Brewer Athletic program.
Individuals can provide feedback Monday, March 5 through Sunday, March 11.
