Students at the White Settlement ISD Fine Arts Academy kicked off Spring Break with a Spring Break Palooza on March 9.
"We wanted to ensure that all of our kids were engaged in high level, relevant learning activities, even on the day before Spring Break!" said Principal Heather Crow.
They used their writing skills when they wrote a recipe for ice cream and then used math skills to measure and estimate when preparing the ice cream.
One activity, "Escape the Island," enabled the students to purchase supplies, sketch a plan and then build a boat that would float.
Students reviewed the elements of drama by participating in a Reader's Theatre, and they summarized their favorite book and created a trailer by using IMovie.
They also created edible plants, played decimal bingo, and participated in a digital "escape" room.
