Blue Haze Elementary fourth grade math teachers recently transformed their classrooms into a bakery to prepare their kids for the benchmarks they took this week.
Students had to answer "batches" of math questions to be eligible to play various games such as Pie in the Face, cookie mount (chew up a cookie in 10 chews and then blew up a balloon in 10 seconds), and dough roll (roll out play dough and individual who cuts three shapes first wins).
They also placed a bowl over their heads and attempted to get the most flour in the bowl.
The students reviewed decimals, angles, lines, measurements, shapes and more.
Teachers are Alden Gideon, Brian Jarvis, Maegan Perryman and Lindsey Vinson. The classroom transformations are funded by an innovative teaching grant, funded by the WSISD Education Foundation.
