"Our Year Through Our Eyes" Grant Enables Liberty Students to Create Yearbook

Teacher Brittani Thomas received a $1055 innovative teaching grant from the White Settlement ISD Education Foundation, and students in the school's Yearbook Club developed the yearbook from start to finish.

Liberty Elementary's yearbook this year will be seen through the lens of its students.

"I began to think about how meaningful it would be if the yearbook was done by students and the photos were taken from their point of view rather than a staff member," said Thomas.

The students advertised the sale of the book, designed the pages and took all photos, and distributed the books after they were published.

Thomas said, "Not only did the project teach the kids the importance of technology, they also experienced the creative process of creating a final product, peer evaluation of digital content, and the responsible use of information and technology."
