Liberty Elementary Named Top Performing School Third Consecutive Year

For the third consecutive year, Children at Risk recognized Liberty Elementary as a Top Gold Ribbon Elementary School. Gold Ribbon Schools demonstrate high achievement despite a 75 percent or higher population of economically disadvantaged students.

Children at Risk ranks public schools based on student performance on the STAAR, student improvement on the test, and college readiness.

Children at Risk is an advocacy organization dedicated to addressing the root causes of social problems impacting Texas children through research, education, advocacy and public policy.

In addition, Educational Results Partnership (ERP) named Liberty to the 2017-18 Texas Honor Roll School. The 2017-2018 Honor Roll recognizes public elementary, middle, and high schools that demonstrate high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps.

This year, the Texas Honor Roll recognized 729 higher performing schools that are distinguished for their academic achievement and closing achievement gaps.

Through national research, ERP identified a common set of success factors in higher performing Honor Roll schools and districts.

These include clear, specific learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness along with evidence-based instructional practices; establishing system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students; investing in human capital; maintaining data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance; and deploying resources and guidance to support schools' efforts to prepare all students for college and career.
