Blue Haze Students Build Houses to Learn Place Value and Decimals

Blue Haze Elementary fourth graders recently practiced place value and decimals when their classrooms were transformed into construction zones. Students worked in crews to build houses out of place value blocks.

The houses were destroyed by an earthquake, and the "crews" had to determine the value of their homes and write the decimal in three ways. Then students then ordered the values on Vinson Street from least to greatest.

Pictured are Lindsey Vinson's class.
