Tannahill Teacher's Classroom Becomes Pizzeria to Teach Weathering, Erosion and Deposition

Tannahill Intermediate fifth grade science teacher Valerie Valadez turned her classroom into Valeria's Pizzeria as a fun way to teach students about weathering, erosion and deposition.

Tannahill Intermediate fifth grade science teacher Valerie Valadez turned her classroom into Valeria's Pizzeria as a fun way to teach students about weathering, erosion and deposition.

After discussing slow changes to the Earth’s surface, students demonstrated their understanding by selecting from various assignments in the "menu" of appetizers, entrees and desserts.

The menu included activities like creating comic strips and fictional stories that described a sediment’s voyage through the weathering, erosion and deposition process; designing an assessment ... using Google Docs ... to assess the mastery of the process; and creating a video or podcast discussing the process and why it's important to understand how the Earth’s surface slowly changes over time.

Valadez even served pizza rolls as a little surprise to the kids!
