Brewer High School students in the Agriculture Animal Systems program have the opportunity to learn how to raise animals. The school has a variety of pigs, goats, chickens ... and even a heifer ... in its new ag facility.
Ag students learn how to feed, groom, exercise, breed, and provide veterinary care for animals of various species.
Arin Frye said caring for a live animal teaches the students responsibility and instills pride in them.
Students walk and feed the animals every day, preparing the animals for show.
Camryn Wilson said students have the opportunity to win money, scholarships, belt buckles and more when showing their animals.
Classes in the program include Principles of Ag, Vet Tech, Livestock and Small Animal Management.
