Brewer High School HOPE Squad members created a Hope Chain as part of Hope Week, Feb. 4 through 8.
Students wrote their names on the chain with pledges that said, "My story isn’t over," and then they received a semi-colon tattoo to represent that they are committed to suicide prevention.
Fourth through 12th grade students are nominated by their peers to be in the HOPE Squad program. They are trained to watch for at-risk students, provide friendship, identify warning signs, and seek help from adults.
More than 200 students and employees participate in the HOPE Squad program.
