Virtual Learning - K-4 Teacher Expectations

Teachers will report to an assigned campus during teacher work hours.

Teachers will maintain normal campus duties assigned by principal.
The following teacher expectations will be finalized after the virtual teachers are selected and virtual teachers have the opportunity to provide input that will result in expectations that ensure the best educational experience for students.
Teacher Expectations
- Check attendance daily for online students
- Contact parent if student misses 2 consecutive days of daily instruction, is failing class(es), or not making progress
- Contact parent at minimum once every other week with progress updates
- Provide required feedback for assignments at a minimum of once a week
- Follow WSISD Grading Guidelines
- Record instructional videos
- Provide daily assignments
- Respond to parent communication within 24 hours, if received outside office hours
- Use SchoolStatus emails/announcements for all communication. (Please refrain from using the text feature as much as possible. No communication should be sent on the weekends or outside the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays.)
- Collaborate with grade level team weekly
- Provide necessary accommodations for all students under Section 504, English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented and/or Special Education. If a student’s plan needs to be significantly adjusted, an ARD or an amendment to the IEP should be considered.
Inclusion/Resource Teachers
- Modify and or accommodate assignments
- Partner with general education teacher for live sessions
- Separate times to do individual check ins
- Document time spent with individual students
- Coordinate with speech and related service personnel required service delivery
ESL Teachers
- Accommodate assignments
- Partner with general education teacher for live sessions
- Separate times to do individual check ins
- Document time spent with individual students
Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Math/ELAR - Zoom, Canvas & Imagine Learning
- Students will have 4 live sessions with a certified teacher for a minimum of 20 minutes for each subject each week. Pre-recorded content and/or a question and answer session with a teacher will also be provided.
- Live sessions will be scheduled during the school day and set by WSISD.
- The teacher will provide review slides through Canvas each week for students/parents.
- Guided Reading live sessions will be held 2 to 3 times a week.
- Every other Friday, parents will be required to pick up resources through a drive-thru.
- EPIC will be used for online books/passages.
Science/Social Studies
- Students will have 1 to 2 pre-recorded content sessions per week and daily assignments.
- Weekly assignments through Canvas
Physical Education/Art
- 1 weekly pre-recorded video of activities, etc.
- Health assignment once every two weeks (if we have PE/Art teacher check in once every two weeks)
Imagine Learning
- Minimum of 20 minutes per day for both Math & Reading Suite
- Minimum of 10 minutes per day on Math Facts

2nd Grade
