WSISD will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch for ALL students who eat in the cafeteria! Meals must have 3 food groups. Students who wish to purchase extra entrees, extra milk, snacks, etc. must have money in their accounts or pay by cash/check.

The US Department of Agriculture will fund the program for school districts that elect to provide the free meals to support families who have been impacted financially during the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure that all children have access to nutritious food.

Complete Free and Reduced Meal Applications
Families that are eligible for free and reduced lunch, should still apply for meal benefits through your Schoolcafe account. Families can create an account on the Brewer Bear Cafe website or request a paper application from the school’s front office or Child Nutrition Office, 817.367.1310.

The USDA/Texas Health and Human Services will use this information for PEBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer). When scheduled, they have issued funds to families who qualified for free or reduced meals. WSISD will also use the free or reduced status for the 2022-23 school year for the first 30 days. Individuals who do not apply will start the 2022-23 school year as a paid student. When the current free meal benefit ends, WSISD desires to ensure that eligible families continue to receive their students' meal benefits. Seniors may also qualify for free testing.

White Settlement ISD offers healthy meals every school day. This school year meals will be available at no cost to all students. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year. APPLY NOW: you may qualify for additional benefits (PEBT); also, WSISD receives funding for students.

While no application or eligibility determination is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, income eligibility requirements will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year. As such, to establish eligibility for free or reduced-price meals for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete an application for free or reduced-price meals this school year. Please note that if you received a notification letter that a child is directly certified for free or reduced-price meals, do not complete an application. Let the Child Nutrition Office know if any children in the household attending school are not listed in the letter.
