The WSISD Education Foundation awarded $12,000 in Innovative Teaching Grants during WSISD's 2019 Convocation.
The grants were part of the Blue Jean Incentive Program. All WSISD employees who make a monthly payroll deduction to wear jeans the first Monday of every month are eligible for the grants.
Winners were: Kimberly Barela, Brewer Middle School, $2,500 Augmented Reality Sandbox grant; Jamey Souza and Michelle Calkins, Tannahill Intermediate, $2,445.57 STEM Makerspace; Becky Boyer, North Elementary, $1,398 Challenging Kindergartners to Solve World Problems; Becky Bickett, Fine Arts Academy, $890.82 Let’s Have a Qball; Mindy Prospech, $575.60 Robots for Rookies, Kids Taking the Wheel to Drive Learning; Chelsea LaPlante, Fine Arts Academy, $1696.36 The DaVinci Studio; Fara Robertson, Early Childhood Academy at West Elementary, $2,082.49 Exploring Science and Math in Pre-K; and Claudia Myers, Early Childhood Academy, $411.16 Small Hands STEMing with Osmos.
