White Settlement ISD opened the Family Resource Center in the fall of 2006. The district’s Parent Involvement Committee initiated the creation of the Center to serve our school community in a useful, meaningful way.
The Family Resource Center offers free classes and workshops for parents and caregivers about issues such as healthy family relationships, good family nutrition, and family finances.
Several levels of English as a Second Language for Adults (ESL) classes are available throughout the year for parents who want to improve their reading, writing, and speaking skills.
Individual and small group instruction for adults interested in taking the GED (General Equivalency Diploma) tests is offered in partnership with Tarrant Literacy Coalition. These Project BEST (Basic Education and Skills Training) classes are free and also available throughout the school year.
The Center coordinates the annual Thanksgiving Dinner Box Project and Tarrant County Back-to School Roundup.
