White Settlement ISD is seeking parents who would like to serve on the district's School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). The SHAC consists of parents, community members and school staff who work to ensure that our children have the knowledge, values, attitudes and skills to develop healthy behaviors. The SHAC serves as an advisory council which provides recommendations, changes and/or additions to the school’s health education curriculum and instruction for consideration by the WSISD Board of Trustees. This advisory group addresses issues regarding health education instruction, healthy school environments, health services, physical education, social and emotional wellness, nutrition, drug and alcohol awareness, human sexuality instruction, and more. The SHAC ensures that local community values are reflected in health education instruction. The SHAC meets four times during the school year to oversee the district's Coordinated School Health Program, develop annual targets, and establish a plan of action. Meetings are held in the WSISD Administration Building.
