Our theme in White Settlement ISD this year is Be Inspiring ... Be Encouraging … Be the Difference. Teachers and Employees who receive this honor truly embody inspiration and encouragement. They are difference makers for our kids. They are "runners" who do whatever it takes to positively impact children, and they always go the extra mile. They have a growth mindset and the GRIT to do whatever it takes to ensure that their team and the students of WSISD are successful. They strive daily to help WSISD become The Best District in the Universe, and they work tirelessly to help kids Think Big.

“Lisa is a great leader for the math department.  As a department head, she supports teachers and is always there to help in any way possible.  In her classroom, she challenges her students to problem solve and think independently.  Lisa is a great asset to Brewer High School and the math department.  We are so glad to have Lisa as a member of the BHS family!”

Lead Security Officer

“David is our lead security officer on campus and would move heaven and earth to make sure all our Bears are safe.  David takes pride in his job and is all over this building to assist with hall monitoring, restroom checks, door security and even covering classes.  David is a great asset to Brewer High School.  We are so glad to have David as a member of the BHS family!”

Graylynn Fowler

“Graylynn goes above and beyond his job description. He visits former students to encourage them to pursue a more positive life walk, and he encourages them to be more involved in their education. He speaks to them with integrity and understanding to encourage those reluctant students.

His PE classes challenge his students physically and mentally. Graylynn is truly one who looks to impart wisdom to each part of the lives he touches. Thank you, Coach Fowler, for all you do for the students of BAC. You make a difference. Keep up the fabulous job.”

Ashten Kurtnick

“Ashten is a first-year seventh grade science teacher, but you would never know it. She's always positive and never seems overwhelmed. This is pretty remarkable for a first-year teacher. She takes on this challenging job with the energy of a first-year teacher and the wisdom of a veteran.”

Her peers say, "Ashten is such a hard worker. She is willing to go above and beyond for all of her students. She is always at homework club helping her students. She has a great attitude and is willing to step outside of her comfort zone if it means doing what needs to be done to help her students."

“Maria is the first person at school in the morning and is unlocking doors, cleaning in the cafeteria, and doing whatever is asked of her. She has a smile on her face and is willing to help! Other custodians have come and gone and Maria is there every day doing the best that she can do for teachers and for students.”  

Her peers say, "Maria always does her work with such pride and compassion. She is amazing, and though I'm not sure she understands everything that I am saying, she is willing to help and will check on me to make sure everything is clean and in order.”

“Barbara is an essential part of our RTI program, while lending her talents to many other areas at FAA ... carpool, lunch duty, subbing and anything else that is needed. “Liz is one of our fourth grade ELA teachers, and she has been a wonderful member of the BHE family for several years. Liz is always one of the first staff members to volunteer for campus events or to help out her colleagues with whatever they may need. She supports our campus and students in many ways, including curriculum writing, chairing our Sunshine Club and leading her fourth grade team.

Liz is passionate about her students, striving to support their academics as well as their emotional and social needs. She has great relationships with her students and colleagues, and she is an asset to our Blue Haze family!”

“Diana has joined our front office this year as our PEIMS clerk. She transitioned into the front office from our Technology Lab and hit the ground running! Diana has quickly learned the ins and outs of the office, and she hasn’t skipped a beat. She greets our visitors, takes care of PEIMS and attendance, and supports the office in any way needed.

Diana’s attention to detail and strong work ethic is noticed by everyone, and she is appreciated by everyone on the Blue Haze staff. We are so glad she has joined us in the office this year and she’s a perfect fit for her new position!”

“Libby has been teaching fourth grade students at North for several years.  She continues to push students to a high level of learning, and each year it shows in the end of year success her students experience.  Libby has been a positive, motivating factor for the fourth grade team this year.  Although the demands of fourth grade are very rigorous and Mrs. Case has had some family health issues to deal with this year, she continues to give all she has to the students and staff of North Elementary.”

Not only does she get all of her work done with a positive attitude, but she is also flexible and willing to do what needs to be done to help others.  She is very sweet to the students and truly cares that they are fed a nutritious, delicious meal.  She is also willing to be available to go to other schools when the need arises. We are very fortunate that she is part of our Brewer Bear Café Team!”

“Paul is another prime example of TRUE GRIT. He does a variety of very important tasks throughout the district that go unnoticed. He helps the Paw Pantry and the Child Nutrition Department, and he ensures that all deliveries are on time and accurate. He also makes sure our playgrounds are inspected and safe for our kids. On top off all that, Paul still manages to lend a hand anywhere he is needed. Our district and our department depend on Paul for many things. We are fortunate and very grateful to have him on our team.”
