District staff presented some options for instructional alignment that would help alleviate the overcrowding that is forecasted as our enrollment numbers at the elementary and intermediate levels increase. If this proposed instructional alignment was implemented, it would be phased in beginning with the 2022-23 school year.
Campus and District Facility Needs
District staff also presented proposed Campus and District Facility Needs. An outside company is currently conducting a Facilities Assessment to evaluate all facilities and our current use of space. These findings will be provided at a future LRFPC meeting.
WSISD also established an Educational Specifications Committee that consists of parents, students, teachers, and school and district staff. During two interactive meetings, participants will explore the experiences they’d like for kids in WSISD to have, as well as how those experiences intersect with what’s necessary for teachers to ensure that student experience.
The efforts of this committee will establish district standards for school spaces for the future, and this committee will provide recommendations to the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee.
