New Student Registration Times During 1st Week of School

To accommodate our current students and their families who will be dropping off children,
new student registration will not begin until the following times:

  • 8:30 a.m. - All Elementaries, the Fine Arts Academy & Tannahil Intermediate
  • 9:00 a.m. – Brewer Middle School
  • 9:30 a.m. – Brewer High School
Documents to bring to your child's campus
Parents must bring one copy of the following documents on the day of registration: birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card, and proof of residency in the form of a current lease or utility bill.
Copies of birth certificates, shot records, and Social Security cards will be placed in the student's permanent file. Each new student will also need to present his/her most recent report card.

Pre-K students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current year, and qualify upon the verification of one of the following:

• Is educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the national free or reduced price lunch program. (Click here for income guidelines.)
     Proof of income in the form of a current paycheck stub; current pay envelope; letter from employer stating gross wages paid and how often they are paid; unemployment, workers' compensation or disability payment stub; TANF, AFDC, or food stamp case number must be provided at registration. Paycheck stub documentation cannot be dated earlier than June 24. (Self-employed individuals may provide their 2016 income tax return or business or farming documents such as ledger books or self-issued paycheck stub.)

• Homeless child - Verifying district form will be completed at registration.

• Child is unable to speak and comprehend the English language as determined by a state-approved assessment.
   A language assessment will be administered during registration, based on the results of the Home Language Survey   (part of the registration packet).

• Parent is an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces or the Department of Defense, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces who is ordered to active duty by proper authority, or is a child of a member of the armed forces including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving in active duty.

• Child is or has ever been under the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services.
The above documentation must be provided in addition to the child's birth certificate, immunization record, social security card, and proof of residency.

Pre-kindergarten students who may qualify as limited English speakers should also be present so language assessments may be administered.

Children who qualify will attend one session on each regularly scheduled school day:
    Morning Session: 7:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
    Afternoon Session: 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current year. New kindergarten students must be present at registration. Allow a minimum of one hour to register because readiness assessments may be administered.

1st Grade:
Students must be at least six on or before Sept. 1.
