Parents who choose or transition to in person learning will receive IEP or 504 services as written.
Virtual Learning Option/Mandated School Closures
If a parent opts for virtual learning and the student’s IEP can be implemented remotely, no changes will be made to the student's IEP for this purpose.
If a parent opts for virtual learning and it is determined that the student’s IEP cannot be implemented remotely, an ARD committee meeting will be called to propose/recommend a contingency IEP for virtual learning to address the student’s unique needs of virtual learning.
This situation means that a student has a face-to-face IEP and a virtual learning IEP in the event circumstances change.
Speech and Related Services
WSISD will provide a full range of instructional, speech, and related services at school for parents opting for virtual learning following the district’s and local and state health and safety guidelines. These will occur through appointments made between the parents and the therapist.
If parents elect to not receive or cannot access speech and related services in person, an ARD committee meeting will be held to propose/recommend a contingency IEP for virtual services to address the student’s unique needs.
Students who opt for virtual learning will receive therapy virtually. If it impacts the students IEP or 504 plan, an appropriate meeting will be scheduled to address proposed changes.
ARD or IEP Team Meetings
ARDs will be held virtually indefinitely. Diagnosticians and Speech Pathologists will schedule and create ARD meetings via video conference (i.e. Zoom, Teams, Hangout).
Full and Individual Evaluations
For Full and Individual Evaluations (FIE), WSISD personnel will schedule appointments at the student’s school or at Special Programs. WSISD safety protocols will be strictly enforced to ensure safety of staff and students.
